BC TradesRoute is a parent-led project. I used AI-assisted tools to design, write, and code it — and then I reviewed every line.
Built by a parent, not a company
I'm Kari Marken, a parent in British Columbia. This site grew out of my family's own experience navigating the trades pathway with my daughter. I wrote the first draft of the story, chose the sources, decided what belonged in each section, and checked the facts against official websites.
How Lovable and AI tools were used
I built this site using Lovable, an AI-assisted development platform. Lovable's AI helped generate the code, layout, copy, and some of the imagery based on my prompts and direction. I treated the AI as a fast draftsman: it produced versions, and I decided what to keep, change, or remove.
- Page structure, navigation, and components were generated by Lovable.
- Most copy started as an AI draft and was edited by me.
- Some images were AI-generated; others are my own selections.
- Facts, sources, and the final voice are mine.
What I verified
I cross-checked program names, contact details, funding rules, safety regulations, and union information against public sources such as the Vancouver School Board, SkilledTradesBC, WorkSafeBC, the BC Federation of Labour, and the BC Building Trades Council. Where a detail was unclear or still being confirmed, I said so on the page.
That said, rules and contacts change. Before you make any decision, confirm the current details directly with the school district, the college, the union, or the regulator.
